I help clients celebrate the imperfections that make them different.
Sara Battista, LCPC, LPC
I am a Licensed Counselor in Maryland and DC. I have expertise in the treatment of eating disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety—with a special interest in working with young adults. I am experienced in addressing anxiety and depression that so commonly accompany life changes, as well as helping clients navigate the stressors of day-to-day life. I empower clients to make choices consistent with a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Some of my other areas of interest include sleep disturbances, workplace stress, gender-affirmative care, and self-esteem. My counseling style is flexible, allowing me to tailor my interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual client. My integrative approach includes elements of evidence-based practices, such as Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), combined with positive psychology and alternative interventions (primarily mindfulness and meditation). I celebrate body diversity and am a Health at Every Size® informed clinician.
Most importantly, I help clients embrace their authentic selves (unapologetically).
My Background
I received my BA in Psychology from Elon University and earned my Master's in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. I work with adolescent and adult clients of all genders with eating disorders and comorbid diagnoses, including anxiety, adjustment issues, ADHD and bipolar disorder. I have worked in two eating disorder treatment facilities and am passionate about continuing my work with the ED population in an outpatient setting.
